Along came a Spider

edit

How can DC acquired the Spider if Moonstone Books have been publishing his stuff for quite some time now?

Sigh. Different Spider. The Spider that Moonstone is publishing is the pulp hero owned by Popular Publications. The Spider that DC 'acquired' (not quite) is a British comic book villian. ---emb021 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 136.182.158.153 (talk) 20:57, 27 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

I've given the page a bit of an update to hopefully make it a bit more updated now the series seems very dead. Unfortunately it's been difficult to get it as thorough as I would like as sadly it seems to have fallen into that Web 1.0 hole where little contemporary Web reportage can be found; I'm going to keep trying to find archived copies of threads from the Image boards to see if more can be found. What we're really missing I feel is a solid source on why the series ended prematurely. It's obviously sales but a solid source outlining that and the reasons why Grist switched to Mudman would be fabulous.

I've also removed the stuff on Jack Staff himself, which I feel belongs better on the character list due to the ensemble nature. That's next on my list, as I feel it can be a powerful tool for supporting the plot summaries. The latter are perhaps a little long and over detailed, if someone wants to make a pass at compacting them feel free, though at the same time part of the problem is the series' incredible narrative density as it lasted for best part of 40 issues, and a lot happens in them all. I did briefly consider breaking them off into a List of Jack Staff story arcs page but I feel this would leave the remaining article very light. BoomboxTestarossa (talk) 10:11, 7 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
