Someone might want to mention what triggers intestinal metaplasia. Someone who knows stuff = not me. This is helpful: [1] and there are references...

H. pylori infection leads to intestinal metaplasia eventually, but no one knows what cells become metaplastic or the signally pathways involved. Mouse models are the primary way tool used to directly investigate mammalian diseases, but they do not develop true intestinal metaplasia. Cdx2 overexpression leads to intestinal tissue in the stomach, but it doesn't tell us much about metaplasia progression. Gsibbel talk 22:49, 8 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

Rename article - "Gastric intestinal metaplasia"

edit

This article should be renamed "gastric intestinal metaplasia," as esophageal intestinal metaplasia is already discussed in the article on Barrett's esophagus. Thoughts? Rytyho usa (talk) 22:16, 4 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
