Talk:International call prefix

Merger proposal edit

I propose merging International call prefix into International direct dialing. I think the content in International call prefix can easily be explained in the context of International direct dialing, and a merger would not cause any article-size or weighting problems in International direct dialing.๐•๐•„๐”ฝ (talk) 15:53, 17 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Sorry for coming late to the discussion. I oppose merging, primarily because the technical term International call prefix is widely linked to across Wikipedia and, in my view, needs to be explained independently, outside of the history and dialling procedures for IDD. Much like Trunk prefix, a similar technical term, is not bundled with Long-distance calling. โ€” kashmฤซrฤซย TALK 13:57, 24 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
I advertised it in multiple places and the RtM was picked up by relevant wikiprojects. The link International call prefix still works and redirects to a dedicated section of the merged article, so nothing is broken. The redirect page has its own wp:Short description. The effect of the change is that ICP now has a context in which it may be better understood, but otherwise is unchanged from what it was before the merge. --๐•๐•„๐”ฝ (talk) 16:12, 24 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
