Seismic data on the lunar core?

edit

Is there any seismic data on the size or structure of the core of the moon? --Tediouspedant (talk) 11:58, 3 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

An article on the topic was published in 6 January 2011 issue of the journal Science and should be summarized here.[1][2] I've tagged the article with {{update}}. In fact, another article could be started at Lunar core (currently a redirect). --Eleassar my talk 13:54, 7 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

The values in the diagram do not match the values presented in the Core section. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.8.82.6 (talk) 10:56, 6 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

Core section

The size of the lunar core is only about 20% the size of the Earth, -- should be 20% the size of the Moon — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.26.48.26 (talk) 10:59, 23 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

What does "20% of the size" mean - 20% of the volume or 20% of the radius (= 0.8% of volume)? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.235.1.53 (talk) 10:42, 10 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

Energy budget

edit

What portion of the moon's internal heat is primordial vs. radioactive decay? Maybe science has yet to answer this question, but it's an obvious question to ask: why does the moon have a liquid core? Earth's internal heat budget covers this in great depth for the Earth. -- Beland (talk) 01:40, 8 December 2014 (UTC)Reply
