I think "interloper" is also an historical term for someone trading in defiance of a legal trade monopoly...like think 18th century. Or is at least used in that capacity. 69.212.2.169 18:34, 16 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Other uses of interloper edit

Interloper is indeed a term used by the British East India company as a derogatory slang against those supposedely trading in defiance of its legal monopoly on Britain-India trade. Perhaps there should be a disambiguation page to clarify this. ArrowHead 00:32, 22 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Interloper is also the term for an individual who meddles in situations, or issues, in which he is not a party to. An 'eavesdropper' and also a 'nuisance'. Janet Weighton/TheHorsesMouth PLC/ 23 April 2006
