First recorded edit

We say The first recorded inter-caste marriage in modern India took place on 4 February 1889. I realise that "modern" is open to interpretation but, for example, the Nair and Nambudiri have been practising intercaste marriage for centuries - it is called hypergamy. - Sitush (talk) 12:51, 30 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

The inter-caste marriages in India have been gradually gaining acceptance as well as disapproval due to increasing education, employment, middle-class economic background, and urbanisation. According to the 2011 census, 5.6% of the marriages in India are inter-caste marriages.[1][2] Though it is also seen that people in today also strongly beleive in same caste marriage and that this new age culture is due to caste based reservationand that if we Indians beleive that we have one of the oldest system and we flaunt about it all around the globe and it been the basis of debate then according to the same rituals same caste marriage is dharma and we must follow it.

Changing text just to approve of something is not accepted as it is seen rising crime in America due to the slavery of blacks back in early nineties.

In India, inter-caste marriages should not be publicly encouraged and by the incumbent government under Narendra Modi by the offering of financial encouragement to those who marry people from lower castes,[3] C. N. Annadurai, the former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu,[4] and social activists such as Periyar E. V. Ramasamy,[5][need quotation to verify] Raghupathi Venkataratnam Naidu[citation needed] and Manthena Venkata Raju.[citation needed] In the North Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, the Government offers a cash award for inter-caste couples.[6] The hatred for brahmin, ratputs and the forward caste by Dalits have made this notion that union in marriage can resolve but still casted of honour killing exists if Brahmins or other upper caste try to marry from lower caste because of the same traditional hatred. [7] and there has never been a bar on inter-caste or inter-religion marriages in India.[8]

In 2017, the Prime minister Narendra Modi started a scheme in which 2.5 lakh rupees will be given to inter-caste couples if one of them is a Dalit.[3] Conclusion : This can futher lead to different kind of hate if this kind of activities cease to exit. As Among upper caste it is condemned to form a union with lower caste Dalits and same caste union bring peace and harmony and helps ones community to grow and flourish in all necessary forms and shapes.

People requesting for same caste marriage previlage as they have performed their dharma so accurately which is indian so proudly flaunts. HungryDragon997 (talk) 08:04, 4 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
