When I worked for IDOT in 1972, the southern intersection of routes 47 and 176 had a Blue Star Memorial Highway marker in the triangular infield created by route 47 and the now-abandoned ramps. Google satellite images show the NB47 to EB176 and WB176 to NB47 remnants of both ramps. We had to remove the sign because it interfered with new, straightened alignment of 176 coming thru the infield to form the current T-intersection, with stop sign. Not sure where the Blue Star sign ended up, perhaps IDOT maintenance?
