DN is actually one of the smallest (and cheapest) classes (60sqft sail vs 350 sqft sail in Class A) and it is not as fast as claimed in article.

The article on Malcolm Campbell says:

"He set his final land speed record at the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah on September 3, 1935, and was the first person to drive an automobile over 300 miles per hour (301.337 mph)."

This one says:

"The stern-steerer "Debutaunte," currently being rebuilt, was holder of the official land speed record for any vehicle when she was timed over a measured mile at 143 miles per hour on the ice of Lake Winnebago WI in 1938."

Someone is off by 301-143=158 mph or so and it isn't the Campbell one.

articles to combine?

Yes, they should be combined. The Ice yachting article contains some very early iceboat history and would fit nicely before this article, however some checks need to made to avoid redundancy. Boat speeds

The DN is by far the biggest iceboat class (in terms of number of members), and is faster than the article originally claimed. I've updated the speed claims, with references to speed measurements made by Bob Dill, current world land speed record holder. Bob is very well versed in making accurate speed measurements that are verifiable.

Modern DN speeds are higher than when Bob was making his measurements as the boats are continually being refined. Many DN sailors have entered what is affectionately called the "60 MPH club", and speeds over 70 mph have been measured on the race course using hand-held GPS (unfortunately not calibrated GPS like Bob Dill uses).

Ice yachting

Pataki Attila István, thank you for your interest in this article. Take a look a the article, Ice yachting, which has a lot of overlapping material. Perhaps the scope of this article should be about the sailing craft and the scope of the other article should be about the practice of ice yachting. What do you suggest? Propose to move to "Iceboat" and merge with "Ice yachting"

Searching on "ice boat definition", the only site that uses "ice boat" is this article. It's the only place that I've ever seen it spelled this way. I propose to move the article to "Iceboat". HopsonRoad (talk) 23:23, 11 April 2020 (UTC)

Help for move

Per the discussion, above, the proposed move of Ice boat to Iceboat appears to be uncontroversial. However, Iceboat is already a redirect to this article so this move is beyond my capability. Once the move is accomplished, I can do the mopping up to direct other articles to the new title. HopsonRoad (talk) 23:51, 17 April 2020 (UTC)
