Talk:IE University

POV & Accuracy This page reads more like an advertisement than anything else. It does not take into account the current situation of the institution (for example, not indicating it belongs to a for profit group - this has been corrected now), and does not accurately describe its status (for example, not indicating it hasn´t graduated a single cohort, and by not providing verifiable information about the number of students or professors), or, worse, by indicating the institution has been around since 1997 on the side box and since 2007 on the text. Also, much emphasis is placed on the history of the buildings without regards to other, more relevant dimensions. I'm simply wondering if this isn't more of a product placement page than a factual information article. Wikipedia is not an advertising space.

The lion's share of the editing is done by the user "Gerardgeoffroy" and "Juliahmadrid" whom also, it seems, are removing anything that can be seen as controversial from a marketing perspective, which makes me question their impartiality. In fact, "GerardGeofffroy" is a paid employee of the institution (see http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Archivo:IE_University.jpg#filehistory ). This creates a blatant conflict of interest (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:COI) which should prevent him from editing this article at all, or at least disclosing his conflict of interest openly, as per Wikipedia rules.

The use of unsubstantiated weasel words as "educational model" (without referring what that model is) and "technological innovation" (without detailing what these innovations are) adds to the feeling of this not being a factual article, but an advertisement/ product placement. Clean it up, add correct references, and don't hype promote an institution: Wikipedia is not a place for marketing, but information / Doorkeeper (talk) 10:52, 7 December 2010 (UTC)

Additional comments: I updated the history section by translating what is said on the Spanish page of IE University. This explains the discrepancy on date of creation (now explained in the texts) and adds references where needed. Confusion about institution

From this article, first sentence, -- IE University is a private university, owned by Instituto de Empresa S.L.

From IE Business School first and second sentences -- IE Business School is a graduate school located in Madrid, Spain. It was founded in 1973 under the name Instituto de Empresa and since 2009 is part of IE University.

It is the same institution. If you don't understand this, perhaps you should stick to editing spanish wikipedia, as a certain level of competence in english language is required here. -Roxy, the dog. barcus 17:33, 22 February 2018 (UTC)

Well, I'm sorry, but this is not a matter of English level (thanks for your good manners). I suggest you contrast the sources;[1][2] In 1973, Instituto de Empresa was founded, which in 2007 changed its name to IEB. On the other hand, after the purchase of the SEK university in 2008, IE University was born. The owner of IE University, and therefore of the rest of the schools, is a company called Instituto de Empresa. It matches the original name of IEB but it is not the same institution. In summary, Instituto de Empresa owns IE University and several schools, including IEB. --Rodelar (talk) 20:51, 22 February 2018 (UTC)

Fake? Criminal?

I have my doubts whether this is a real university at all. Every day, sometimes twice a day I receive e-mail advertisements from this "university" - that require me to press a link, the typical approach of phishing criminals. I mailed this "university" that I am not interesting for them since I am retired *plus* I have a PhD in an "IE" related field, but they do not react. The website of this "university" does not reveal and address or telephone number. To me, it is a new phishing approach: add your own Wikipedia page that suggest that you are a honorable university rather than a phishing criminal.
