1A2540 edit

A VERY reliable source on aero-engines does not mention the 1A-2540 or 2A-2540, This is very probably a typo introduced by Aerofiles, which is packed full of good info but does have a large number of small inaccuracies. I have changed the engines to 1A-2500 and 2A-2500 respectively. If anybody can find a primary source, e.g. Packard records, for the 2540 series then please tell us.--Petebutt (talk) 04:44, 21 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

Mystery solved, 2540 was the actual capacity not the designation, 1A-2500 and 2A-2500 are carrect.--Petebutt (talk) 05:11, 21 December 2012 (UTC)Reply
There is a little bit more. The swept volume of the 1A-2500 is 2,490 cubic inches (plus a tiny bit), so Packard probably base there designations on swept volume and not displacement which is total volume of all cylinders at BDC. So somebody has calculated the displacement and assumed that Packard use that figure for their designations, which, it seems, they don't.--Petebutt (talk) 10:49, 21 December 2012 (UTC)Reply
