The official English name should be used here instead of the Finnish name. Thus Finnish House of Nobility /Teuton 12:02, 5 November 2006 (UTC)

• Oppose the proposed name. Not sufficient evidence to support the proposal. It is not vital how some wants to be called in English. No one can officially force the others how to use English about that one. Ukrainian government has OFFICIALLY decreed that their capital city is Kyiv in English, and has lost its battle here in en-WP. Suedois 00:42, 12 November 2006 (UTC)

• Support Ritarihuone officially uses "Finnish House of Nobility" as its English name. I called them and verified it and suggest you do the same. Do not invent new names on wikipedia.

• Support (belatedly): Unlike "Kiev", neither "House of Knights" nor "House of Nobility" is part of the everyday vocabulary of most English speakers. Since "Nobility" seems to be the point of the place (see www.riddarhuset.fi : "Adeln genom historien" / "Aatelisto kautta historian"), "House of Nobility" is a logical and self-explanatory name. Riddarhuset has a meaning for Swedish speakers in Sweden and Finland. A literal translation of it has no meaning for English speakers.

Proviso: The only argument for "House of Knights" would be if it was historically so called by anglo-saxons pre-1900 (not my area of expertise). -- Abut 17:13, 21 January 2007 (UTC)

There is a Finnish law on the House of Nobility, written in both Finnish and Swedish, from 1919. The name used in the said law is "Ritarihuone" in Finnish and "Riddarhuset" in Swedish. Both Finnish and Swedish are official languages in Finland. The English name used by Ritarihuone / Riddarhuset, is "Finnish House of Nobility". Maybe the correct thing would be to quote both the Swedish and the Finnish name of the House. The names of persons, however, cannot be translated into Finnish. Teuton 18:37, 21 November 2006 (UTC)

Move to Finnish House of Nobility

• Support - per Teuton (there is no reason to doubt his claim about the telephone call) and [1], but it should also be merged with Ritarihuone, which should have the same name. This is also shown by the incorrect link to fi:aatelissääty (aateli), which links correctly to nobility. Some parts may need to be moved to Finnish nobility --Espoo 00:54, 24 December 2006 (UTC)

• Support - I have included all information from the Ritarihuone page on this page. Hence, the Ritarihuone page can be cleaned and made a pure redirect page. There is nothing that prevents moving the Finnish House of Knights and Nobility to Finnish House of Nobility.
