American vocal group the Beach Boys

Referring to a band that covered an instrumental song as a "vocal group" just doens't make any sense to me. Though they're better known for their vocals, it just makes no sense in this context.Whotookthatguy (talk) 05:43, 11 January 2008 (UTC)

• I know this is answering a 13-year-old comment, but as far as I'm aware only one of the Beach Boys generally stuck to singing; all the rest played instruments so for a vocal group like them to record Honky Tonk as an instrumental makes perfect sense. Songwriting credit and Sax Player

Under the song title "Honkey Tonk" there are 4 writers listed; one of which is Clifford Scott (in red - meaning he has no Wiki site) If you go to Wiki: "Bill Doggett" it states that in Bill Doggett's jazz band one of the sax players was Clifford Scott. I originally went to both sites to see who played the tenor sax solo on "Honkey Tonk" Parts I & II therefore I'm going to go out on the limb and say that the sax player on Honky Tonk is Clifford Scott - could someone with credentials please confirm this? And if my suspicions are true then I propose we get a Wiki site up for Clifford Scott who played one of the all time great sax solos in a R&B/Rock instrumental. How many sax players learned every lick this cat played on parts I & II? JSJR 12212012
