Media sugarcoating the unemployment rate? edit

I have used a newspaper article [1] as reference for the level of employment. I am assuming that the article is indirectly saying that the level of unemployment is at 27% - nine percent above the national average - 18%. The unemployment rate is 50% more than the national average. 178.232.3.20 (talk) 21:10, 30 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

I really don't think any sugarcoating is going on there. I would be extremely surprised if a majority of Holmlia's population is unemployed. 50% of the quoted national unemployment figure, 18%, would be 9%. In that case, an unemployment rate of 27% would be 50% more than the national average -- not in actual terms, but relative to the national unemployment figure. As a side note, 18% sounds like a rather high figure for national unemployment, unless it's counting children, pensioners, and those unfit to work. Strachkvas (talk) 16:10, 26 June 2016 (UTC)Reply
