To do list:
- The lindisfarne illustration does not show off the intricate Celtic decoration described in the text. Find a better image.
- Add one well-researched sentence on the influence of Northumbrian monastic culture on development of European (Frankish?) culture.
- Build up the section on the Pre-roman period. There is lots of archeological evidence.
- Reinforce section on impact of Norman feudalism -- make it more explicit.
- complete description of Harrying of the North, and its effects on Northumberland (rather than Yorkshire)
- find something useful to say about the council of the north
- get book on industrial development of the northeast, probably lots on coal mining
Berwick not Norham
editThe question of the Scottish sucession was settled not at Norham Castle in 1290 but at the Castle of Berwick-upon-Tweed in 1292, now part of Northumberland but then very much in Scotland. Rcpaterson 01:52, 27 May 2006 (UTC)
King of Scots/Earl of Northumbria
editWhy no mention here of the Scots Earls of Northumbria up to the Treaty of York 1260? Brendandh (talk) 14:15, 12 July 2011 (UTC)
