Changed "anti-Semitism" (widely used but originally possibly from MS Word autocorrect) to the correct "antisemitiam". Check the IHRA and other explanatory websites. Dori1951 (talk) 12:15, 9 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

WP:NPOV in Israel-Somalia section

edit

WP:NPOV in Isreal-Somalia section The source given twice in the Isreal-Somalia relations section is by Nancy Hartevelt Kobrin, a woman who has a direct pro Israeli bias. According to her website (https://www.nancykobrin.org/), she is a psychoanalysist who specialises in jihadism. She has written multiple articles for the Times of Israel (https://blogs.timesofisrael.com/author/nancy-hartevelt-kobrin/), about the during each conflict with Hamas in the past 2 decades (2014 and currently), all of which adopt a pro Israeli stance.

The free copy of the source I read (https://www.researchgate.net/publication/329027273_Ilhan_Omar_Controversy) is practically worthless a source as it's a reaction to the statements made by Ilhan Omar (and for some reason has Clarion Project mentioned in the citations title). This is no way reliable for citating, let alone for historical claims of which the article is neither concerned about and decicates 1 sentance to.

"With the outbreak of the Arab-Israeli Six Day War in 1967,

the Jews were summarily deported from Somalia, forced to leave everything behind as they fled for their lives. This outrageous deportation took place only seven years after Israel so graciously and bravely become the first country to recognize the newly independent nation of Somalia in

1960."

}} This is the only mention of this in the whole article, which again is about a Ilhan Omar and not history, and it doesn't mention the Muslim Brotherhood at all either. I propose the immediate deletion of these paragraphs until more reputable sources are available/are made known, and will begin immediately too. 92.236.211.53 (talk) 19:17, 17 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

The other citation (Huffingtonpost) in the section is also unreliable! It is not only an opinion piece that doesn't mention Israel whatsoever, it's also contradicts what it was cited for, as I never changed the paragraph its in aside from moving another source to it.
The paragraph states "In 1967, Somalia joined the Arab League[...]", but the article says

I've begun deleting unverified information using these bad sources, such as the reference to the alleged expulsion of Yemeni Jews from Mogadishu, asylum to muslim brotherhood and I've corrected the date to 1974 as in the Huffington post and will be using it to instead state "Somalia joined the Arab Leagues boycott of Israel as it back a member" or something along those lines, which is true even despite the source not saying it. Will add a source for this to replace the Huffington post soon and will also delete the Ilhan Omar source completely immediately. 92.236.211.53 (talk) 16:52, 21 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
