- I will have to agree, this is a bad article.--Kranar drogin 10:57, 14 July 2007 (UTC)
- I am going to work on cleaning up the prose, and I'll add citations and information as I come across them. – Freechild (BoomCha) 23:32, 14 July 2007 (UTC)
- Roger that. I will be doing what I can as well. IvoShandor 01:03, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
I removed the entire section on "Distinguishing aspects", because it wasn't very distinguishing. There does need to be information inserted about defining characteristics, or common attributes - but this section had little, if no salvageable information. – Freechild (BoomCha) 04:23, 16 July 2007 (UTC)
- What we really need are some good sources. But the current version is much better than what appeared here when I stumbled upon it. IvoShandor 06:24, 25 July 2007 (UTC)
I removed the entire section on "Criteria," because it was irrelevant to the topic. Those are, in fact, the four criteria for listing of a building on the (U.S.) National Register of Historic Places, but there's no correlation - a house museum does not have to be on the National Register, nor is there any expectation that a building on the National Register is a house museum. It was also nonsensical listing a set of criteria for a U.S. system as a general set of criteria for what is otherwise an international article, and, by happenstance, just above a section entitled "Organisations," using the British spelling rather than the American. One way to improve would be to link to specific examples
editSuch as the Lower East Side Tenement National Historic Site, Merchant's House Museum, Kykuit, etc.dm 06:27, 16 July 2007 (UTC) (sorry about that)
- If not integrated into the text of the article, these types of examples would be better illustrated as a separate article that is a List of historic house museums, but I'm out of the list game, so its somebody else's to write. Besides, the Category:Historic house museums is underused right now, and probably does a better job than a list could at this point. – Freechild (BoomCha) 04:25, 16 July 2007 (UTC)

Contribution of photo
editHi @Veeti Davidsson: while your contribution of the photo is appreciated, it is important not to add to create photo clutter. Too many Wikipedia museum pages suffer from too many photos being added by people being boosters of their museum or country/province. It is important to think what does the photo contribute to the topic? What is it illustrating that other photos are not? Doe the photo to the diversity of the topic? Too many photos on museum pages are only from Europe or North America or certain countries or states/provinces. What is your rational for adding it? Meaning what does it add to the page that is current not illustrated? My concern is that the photo does not appear to add anything that is not already there. Also is from Scandinavia, is a photo of Kings Hall at Skokloster Castle, from Sweden. The photo does a good job of representing Castle/mansions. This is not a question of the importance of birthplace of Aleksis Kivi or any other place with a photo on the page, it is just about what does it add? May I suggest, this image File:Aleksis Kiven koti.jpg which is an exterior of Aleksis Kiven birthplace and shows the farmstead. The topic does not yet have a farmhouse and there are many farm house museums in existence. Myotus (talk) 01:28, 5 January 2022 (UTC)
- Hi. I replaced that picture put by Veeti Davidsson with the picture you suggested. 91.158.155.148 (talk) 12:24, 5 January 2022 (UTC)
