Real and historical concept of "Hispanic Monarchy"

edit

The term Hispanic monarchy refers to the period within the Spanish empire between 1479 and 1716. There is a Wikipedia page in several languages, among them the most complete is the Spanish one, which explains very well what the Hispanic monarchy is.

I think we should translate that page into English (I volunteer to do this job, I have native knowledge of Spanish) for remove this disambiguation page status.

Here I mention some Wikipedia editors who I think would be interested in this: @Carlstak@Generalirius@Cantabrucu@Peter Brew@Jialxv@Fancy Refrigerator (members of the wikiproject:spain, editors of articles about Spanish history...) Unidosporasensio (talk) 11:29, 19 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

  • I'd be happy to help translate it. generalirius (Talk) 17:10, 19 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Good, but I need support to make this translation take place on this same page in order to remove the status of "disambiguation page". Unidosporasensio (talk) 16:40, 20 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
To be honest, I find the division of pages a bit confusing and there is a lot of overlap, but then again, I am not an historian. The English page Spanish Empire seems to have a lot of the Spanish page Monarquia Hispanica in it. How do you propose to do away with the disambiguation page as it currently refers to Habsburg Spain and the Iberian Union. Will they be incorporated into a much larger Hispanic Monarchy?
Perhaps we need to clarify the contents of each page. What I see at present is:
  • Spanish Monarchy - the form of government since 1978
  • Hispanic Monarchy - the political entity (or form of government I guess) from 1476 to 1716 (with very limited discussion of colonialisation)
  • Hapsburg Spain - the political entity between 1516-1700
  • (Bourbon Spain doesn't exist strangely)
  • Spanish Empire - history of expansion and colonisation from 1492 to 1976
  • Iberian Union - dynastic union of Spain and Portugal in period of 1580-1640
Agiain, hould Hapsburg Spain and Iberian Union just be part of a bigger page "Hispanic Monarchy"? Where does History of Spain fit in? Peter Brew (talk) 16:51, 4 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
