Hazlemere edit

Wouldn't it be named after Hazlemere rather than Haslemere? There's a couple of pointers; the spelling differences for one, and the fact it's next to High Wycombe, as the Bucks Hazlemere is. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 195.152.3.106 (talk) 09:15, 11 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Good point, but the cited source specifically mentions the Guildford one, and for better or worse, we have to stick to our sources. However, there are probably better references out there than Landgate. Graham87 14:45, 11 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
none better than Landgate for WA naming, Hazelmere abuts Guildford was developed 90-100 years earlier (1880's) than High Wycombe which was a late 1970's-80 land subdivision developement of South Guildford. Theres no way it could have been derived as the IP suggests Gnangarra 20:17, 11 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, that sounds sensible in this case. Landgate does make mistakes though. The first linked conversation was the one that came to mind when I wrote the comment above. Graham87 01:18, 12 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
thanks. Could well be then that High Wycombe was partly named because of Hazlemere location, not withstanding the story about the employee in the firm 'Western Agencies'. Doesn't explain the spelling differences though — Preceding unsigned comment added by 195.152.3.106 (talk) 08:14, 13 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
Transposing of s and z was a common occurance in 1800 many names in Western Australian records had similar such occurances, not just place names but peoples names as well. Gnangarra 05:33, 16 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
