editJuanita Carberry was 15 in 1941 and seems to have had no connection with the Happy Valley set.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.194.4.21 (talk • contribs) 09:39, 28 September 2006
Lord Baden-Powell.
editLord Baden-Powell lived in Happy Valley from 1935 to his death in 1941, aged 83. I'm not at all sure that he is known for a notorious lifestyle. This article needs to be a little clearer about the definition of the "HV set" - is it the elite notorious ones, or any Briton who lived there, or any rich Briton who lived there.
As it stands, it implies that BP led a notorious lifestyle.

There is no reference to connect the Outspan Hotel and Baden Powell to the Happy Valley set. In the sub-section Location the sentences "Outside Nyeri ..." to "The cottage ..." should be deleted unless any relevance other than geographical proximity can be shown.
A quick internet search brings up on Google Books "Baden-Powell: Founder of the Boy Scouts By Tim Jeal" page 557 "Baden Powells's only dealings with the 'Happy Valley set' would be when he wrote a letter of condolence to Errol on the the death of his second wife, Molly"

- The way it's written, it doesn't cast aspersions on him. Wikipedia is not censored.--Kintetsubuffalo (talk) 13:09, 29 March 2018 (UTC)
Uganda
editThis article is now in Category:Uganda Protectorate, but is the connection strong enough to warrant that? --Northernhenge (talk) 18:57, 1 December 2011 (UTC)
- I can't for the life of me see why Uganda is mentioned at all in this article. We're told the Happy Valley set lived round Nyeri, which as the map makes clear is pretty much in the centre of Kenya, and a full 350 km east of Kisumu in the west of the country - in other words, it's nowhere near Uganda. At first I thought there might once have been a single British colony called "Kenya and Uganda" - but there seems not to have been, and if there had you would expect the word "and" to be part of a single linked title, instead of which there are separate links to "Kenya" and "Uganda", with "and" in ordinary print.89.212.50.177 (talk) 11:34, 13 September 2018 (UTC)
The wikilinked version of this name allows the reader to discover the significance of "Cav." The Fenz link connects to the appropriate family. Therefore I've put both links back in for now. Other views? --Northernhenge (talk) 20:28, 24 January 2012 (UTC)
