Talk:Hamilton and Alexandra College

Neutrality edit

I am going to revert the most recent edits for the following reasons: The sentences:

Established in 1871, the College has a long history of academic excellence and a tradition of high achievement. With emphasis on small class sizes, the College provides a nurturing yet challenging environment for students from the Early Learning Centre through to Year 12.

are far from neutral. Specifically:

  • Who says the college has a "tradition of high achievement"? Just about every school/college prospectus ever written says that - it's marketing guff and it needs an independent secondary source to stay.
  • "With an emphasis on small class sizes" is more marketing-speak - How small is small? Small relative to what? Wikipedia is international - "small" in the UK where I teach is under 30 for the state sector, under 15 for the private sector; "small" in the developing world may be considerably higher.
  • "the College provides a nurturing yet challenging environment" - At best, these are both value judgements and need an independent source. At worst this is more marketing.

In addition, there's no point adding: {{Guide to Australian Schools}} since the template doesn't exist - I'm unsure what was intended here. I've also re-added a link to the school website since it was removed without explanation.

Facilities edit

This article could benefit from some information on the school facilities and buildings, such as the murray hall, the new gym, the shilliday hall, the science center, the library and technology centres, and more. mmj (talk) 01:43, 15 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
