Does WP have an article on the Hackles webcomic by Drake Emko and Jen Brodzik? Drutt (talk) 20:27, 9 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Not at this time. It may be that it does not yet pass WP:WEB. -Verdatum (talk) 23:47, 9 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hackles in combing fibres edit

Heckling is an Irish phonetic of hackling, the use of a raised bed of spikes to filter out fibres of insufficient length from combed fleece. Combing of fleece does a far more exhaustive straightening of the fibres than carding does. As a result, it produces less fluffy, more solid worsted wools. After combing using the comb brushes at right-angles to each other (usually at least 5 transfers from one comb to the other), the straightened fibres are transferred to a hackle, an extended row of spikes fixed to the worktop, from which they are pulled free using a "diz", a guide controlling the amount of fibre passing into the "top", the straighten wool stock which will be dyed and spun. A hackle can also be used to blend fibres of different colours and types.

This is a missing meme, and so it might well be added. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.219.67.184 (talk) 03:38, 1 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
