Etymology edit

Is it named for taro (khoai môn)? That's what I've heard from a friend who lives there. Badagnani (talk) 22:46, 29 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

That appears to be the case. According to vi.wiki:

Trịnh-Nguyễn War edit

I added the above info. But the years don't match the Trịnh-Nguyễn War, because the dates are later than those given for this war. Can you figure it out? Badagnani (talk) 23:46, 29 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

The war tapered off towards the end, so the en.wiki article didn't consider the later part as war, but hostilities didn't really end until both were extinguished by the Tay Son. When not fighting each other, the two sides fought "external" enemies: the Trinh fought the remnants of the Mac Dynasty in Cao Bang while the Nguyen fought the Champa.
