Unencyclopædic language

I would suggest that the following passage is unencylcopædic:

Sikhs carry the Gutka covered in a clean clothe and wash their hands before handling the Gutka. You must not put any Gurbani script on the floor; nor handle with unwashed hands; read without covering your head; turn the pages with licked finger; or cause any disrespect to the honourable word of our Gurus. This idea originates from ancient times where all knowledge (books) got this kind of respest.

The passage seems to suggest that it is a Sikh authority lecturing the reader, and I highly doubt that this is the author's intention. Therefore, I am removing direct references to the reader (such as you), and removing possessive articles such as our from the text. Paradokuso 03:47, 22 October 2006 (UTC)

Este vorba probabil de cuvîntul germ. ban, lat. med. bannus „comunicare, strigare”, care a ajuns să însemne, între multe altele, „amendă impusă pentru delicte împotriva autorității”, sau „contribuție plătită domnului feudal de către târguri” (cf. ex. din sec. VII-XII, la Niermeyer 82-3). Schimbarea sensului s-ar explica prin necesitatea de a plăti amenzile cu bani gheață, într-o epocă în care moneda nu era obișnuită. Rămîne de lămurit drumul urmat de împrumut; este probabil să fi fost prin intermediul mag. A fost uneori explicat prin intermediul lui ban „conte” (Hasdeu 2425; Tiktin); această explicație este însă lipsită de fundament istoric, căci ar fi posibilă numai dacă ar exista monede bătute de demnitarul desemnat prin același nume. S-a presupus apoi pentru cuvîntul rom. o origine sl. (Miklosich, Slaw. Elem., 14); într-adevăr, există în bg. han „(”monedă„ și ”conte„) și în v. pol. ban. Totuși, cel mai probabil este ca ambele cuvinte să provină din rom. (Cihac, II, 8; DAR; Capidan, Raporturile, 230); tot din rom. derivă mag. bány ”monedă„ (Edelspacher 9). În sfîrșit, după o ipoteză a lui Pușcariu în DAR, ar fi vorba de o rădăcină preromanică *bann- ”viață„, de unde se deduce și mr. a băna, ”a trăi.„ Sub aspect semantic, ar trebui să se presupună un sens al lui *bann- ”vite„ (ca lat. vita › rom. vită), și apoi ”bani„ (ca lat. pecus › pecunia), ipoteză ce pare a prezenta neajunsul de a fi prea ingenioasă.
