The tread belts of Thiokol machines (snowcats) are made of wide belts of reinforced rubber with extra large grousers that have a T section on one end designed to improve traction when moving sideways across a slope. The design permits the machine to "float" on top of the snow instead of sinking into the snowpack. --Mccainre (talk) 22:50, 22 January 2017 (UTC)
Curiosity and Perseverance (the Mars Rovers) also use grousers. Another example to add to the article if anyone is interested in penning it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:1700:4810:C4C0:1D20:F7C1:E0A3:4105 (talk) 20:26, 29 October 2020 (UTC)
