Feel edit

I changed the remark that granular synthesis results resemble or "feel" the same as the source of the samples because this is not necessarily true. I've heard granular works, for example Barry Truax, based entirely on human voice samples that sound and feel nothing like the human voice. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hieronymous (talkcontribs) 12:00, May 19, 2003 (UTC)

mergefrom Gabor atoms edit

Propose merging the article Gabor atoms into this one. That article seems rather lonely, and in need of attention, and its main point seems to be to justify the ideas of this article; thus I propose a merge. linas 18:44, 6 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

I think that it would be a better idea to develop this article under a mathematical perspective, explaining the concepts from time-frequency (Gabor) analysis and develop the Time-frequency analysis article. --SPin 15:37, 7 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

It seems like a good idea only if we can flesh out a historical section on granular synthesis, and include it there. I'd vote to leave it separate until then. Torc2 01:44, 13 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Granular resynthesis edit

this isn't a synthesis method at all, but a type of sampling - it's proper title is Granular resynthesis. the title should probably be changed to reflect this and Granular synthesis redirected to the new page Inzy 23:57, 16 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Technically you might be correct, but Granular Synthesis is the more common name. Often the waveforms are altered enough through enveloping and overlapping to be considered as a synthesis technique instead of merely a resynthesis technique. Torc2 01:22, 13 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

you could also use oscillators instead of sampled sounds, then it would be proper synthesis. there are various examples of software that use this approach. --212.59.162.249 (talk) 13:21, 4 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

artists edit

i removed the last sentence as this is widely spread among artists194.94.133.193 13:04, 14 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

"Electronica artist and producer Brian Transeau (BT)uses this method in his tracks often." Hyacinth (talk) 02:53, 12 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

Graintable synthesis edit

How is granular synthesis related (if at all) to graintable synthesis? [[user:jimjamjak]] (talk) 10:05, 5 December 2007 (UTC) Yes. Is a good question. Anybody? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 200.86.229.217 (talk) 02:58, 2 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Ableton Live edit

Shouldn't Ableton Live be mentioned here in the software section and the Ableton Live page referenced back to here? I'd go ahead and add it, but I can't find a reference that Live does indeed use granular sythesis, despite the fact that the first time I heard of "granular resynthesis" is when I started playing around with Live 4 Lite. I may have my facts confused though. Slippyd (talk) 01:47, 22 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

hello, i have some problems with italian Sbazzone wikiadmin, i would insert my link in the software section "only in english wiki", Sbazzone continuously remove me the link, i don't know the solutin.

I pray someone to verify the reliability of my project, then put the link or authorize me. thanks best regards. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Varisto (talkcontribs) 13:40, 4 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

new Density software link edit

hello, I have tried several times to insert my software link on wiki, but italian Sbazzone wikiadmin continuously remove me the link, i don't know the solutin. I would only insert my link in the software section "only in english wiki", as the others analogue software.

I pray someone to verify the reliability of my project, then put the link or authorize me. thanks best regards.

It is not possibile to write that link, because of WP:SPAM --Sbazzone (talk) 14:26, 4 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

well, i saw it removed all the software links. I agree, i think it must be show all links or nothing. Althought the granular synthesis can be made mainly thru the digital software, anyway... salut! :-) --Varisto (talk) 16:28, 4 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
