Comments
editGrain has several meanings. A granule (i.e. a grain of sand or salt), a very small unit of weight called a grain, the "pixels" of resolution on photographic film (i.e. a grainy picture), wood-grain, grain as in style (i.e. "going against the grain"). All of these should be on this page, either the text, or the link to another article about each.
There is also the Grain Belt, "take it with a grain of salt", the town of Grain Valley, Missouri, a grain elevator, and the Grain Coast. These should appear under a "see also" section at the bottom. --radiojon 10:25, 2003 Sep 4 (UTC)
- Yes. It is now a disambiguation page, but all of these definitions along with what is there now can be accomodated. My preference, where individual articles are short, is just to load them all on. If an article stats to expand, then spin it off into its own page (as was done, essentially, with grain (cereal) spun off to Cereal). - Marshman 18:38, 4 Sep 2003 (UTC) However, I do think your second paragraph suggestions are mostly examples of "grain" used as in Cereal or covered by your first set of definitions ("grain of salt"); "Grain_Valley" will not really confuse with "grain" - Marshman
Proposal
editI check and dab links to this page on a regular basis, and feel confident in asserting that the overwhelming number of such links intend the sense of cereal. I propose to move this content to Grain (disambiguation), and make grain redirect to Cereal. — Pekinensis 15:34, 14 August 2005 (UTC)
- Agreed. -- Kjkolb 02:10, 2 November 2005 (UTC)
- I'll do exactly that. Melchoir 23:05, 6 March 2006 (UTC)

grass grain = fruit or seed?
editI think that botanical meaning of grain is actually the fruit of a grass, not the seed. I'm going to change it but someone should look further into this. askewchan 07:22, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
reverted change
editI reverted the change made on 7 feb 2007 that redirected "grain" to here. After the change, we are again pointing at "Cereal". Apparently, that change was made without discussion and without reference to the consensus that had been reached a year ago. -Arch dude 21:08, 10 March 2007 (UTC)
"Grain"
editThe usage of Grain is under discussion, see talk:food grain -- 70.51.202.113 (talk) 05:44, 17 September 2015 (UTC)
