PS edit

Why were the specs modified to a unit used by neither the originator of this engine, or for an English speaking audience using imperial measures? PS isn't even remotely an appropriate unit to use, and now I have to wonder how many other pages were similarly vandalised. - NiD.29 (talk) 13:57, 28 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

These are original specifications per german and french manuals, not the dumb/errornous 1:1 translation of metric horsepower into imperial horsepower. --Denniss (talk) 17:10, 28 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
The specs given are NOT from German manuals, OR French ones though, but from US publications which provided them in imperial horsepower, and we aren't using a "metric" HP, but rather kW, as is standard across the project, and making manual conversions from the published sources into some other unit is expressly avoided across English Wikipedia. Feel free to do whatever on the German wiki, but manually converting hp to PS (that most readers would not be familiar with) is not appropriate here. - NiD.29 (talk) 03:02, 1 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
Then these sources are BS and unreliable if they can't even properly recalculate engine powers. Sadly this was very very common for a long time, most didn't even know about the difference. --Denniss (talk) 14:05, 1 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
ROTFLMAO. Why would we use a measuring system used only by the Germans as being authoritative for a French engine?
The sources are not the problem, the obsession with using obscure, obsolete units is.
I would suggest that a source that is still using just PS is unlikely to offer anything useful. I certainly won't be able to trust it to offer an unbiased account.
Why would we use an obsolete and irrelevant measurement system that is 1% off from the well known system unless we wish to obfuscate something?
The ban on recalculating numbers exists because we have a tool to do that, and manual conversions introduce errors in accuracy, because of the need to round.

I have really enough of you, you accuse me of being a vandal and your texts are just hiding personal attacks. Let me tell this: If you dont's have any idea of what you are writing about just simply shut up. These engines were specified per the french equivalent of PS (Cheval-vapeur), both are metric horsepower. They were not specified in imperial horsepower.--Denniss (talk) 17:36, 1 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
Now who is getting nasty - and yet unlike you, I had good reason for my accusation, since your changes were pointless and nationalistic and I notice that it wasn't the CV that you demanded be included, but the utterly irrelevant PS, and you blindly hit undo without even looking to see what changes had been made - which seems to be something of a habit for you. Maybe follow your own advice, since you are clearly projecting.
I would suggest checking the sources given, which you definitely did not do either time you decided to change all of the figures - which alone is grounds for immediate reversal - and those sources do not mention PS or CV at all and I am perfectly familiar with the meaning of both so your condescending comments are misplaced, especially given the sheer number of edits you have reverted where you were obviously clueless about the subject. Indeed I have used them when appropriate but that is not here. Had the sources been in CV or PS then it would have been appropriate to include them, since the original numbers should ALWAYS be included from sources, but since they weren't, there is no reason to do so - particularly with a unit that the manufacturers never would have used, and which isn't currently being used by anyone who matters. Not once was a number given in either of those units in any of the sources provided though. They do however provide numbers in hp, which you would know had you actually checked the references.
I highly doubt you are in a position to lecture anyone about not knowing anything about the subject in question.
Worse, I notice that you have been called out on your BS for modifying units to inappropriate alternatives multiple times before, which suggests an incapacity to actually ever learn. So, until you grow up and stop being a child, auf wiedersehen . - NiD.29 (talk) 22:30, 1 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
