Origin of Glossa Ordinaria

The historian of science, David C. Lindberg maintains that this text originated with Anselm of Laon and his followers in his Science in the Middle Ages (1978) ISBN 978-0226482330 on page 525, which is not as early as the origin date implied here... Ascribed works Johannes Trithemius, Abbot of Sponheim (1462-1516), credited him with the authorship of the Glossa Ordinaria or Ordinary Glosses on the Bible. The work dates, however, from the 12th century, but Trithemius' erroneous ascription remained current well into the 20th century.[3]
