Was she born in Paramus or Morristown?

edit

Having protected the article for a year recently and noticing that she's from New Jersey (as I am), I came back for a look as to where she was from. Seeing that she was born in Morristown, I saw it followed by the claim that she grew up in "nearby" Elmwood Park, and took that word out, because as I indicated in my edit summary no one from that part of New Jersey would consider those two communities close to each other ... they're two counties apart, and driving from one to the other would probably take the better part of an hour, then as well as now.

But then I saw in the infobox the claim she was born in Paramus. If that's so, "nearby" makes a lot more sense. The text also says she trained in Wyckoff when younger, which is also consistent with Paramus.

At the same time, though, we have two sources for Morristown versus none for Paramus. I haven't been able to check them yet, so I've tagged the text with {{contradictory-inline}}. Can someone else more on top of this straighten it out? Daniel Case (talk) 22:12, 31 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

A local paper, the Daily Voice, says Morristown [1][2]
In a video specifically discussing inaccuracies on Wikipedia, Liv states she was born in Morristown [3]
The Paramus factoid seems to be mistake based on the fact she worked later in life in Paramus. Sources discussing Morgan in Paramus seem much rarer than Morristown.
Based on all that, I would have the article state throughout that she was born in Morristown. CeltBrowne (talk) 01:55, 1 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
The second source you link doesn't say anything about where she was born, and does call her a "Bergen County native". I'm not sure yet about the Daily Voice ... a local newspaper? Or one of those nationwide brands like Patch, where some of the content comes from freelancers they don't fact-check?
However, I think we can accept the video under WP:ABOUTSELF. Since it's almost an hour long, can you tell me roughly when in the video she says it? (The cite will need to have that information anyway). Daniel Case (talk) 02:00, 1 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
40 minutes 11 seconds
I imagined a local paper would care about getting the exact town correct than a national one would, but it can be argued differently I guess. CeltBrowne (talk) 08:42, 1 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
Apart from Morristown, Aromat567's IP sock 102.67.77.171 provided the Cagematch source says she was born in Paramus. AmritR012 (talk) 10:27, 1 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
Cagematch.de is reliable for match results, match types, moves and anything else that happens "on screen", but for everything it is limited. I would imagine it would be easy for Cagematch simply to repeat unverified info on things like hometowns. CeltBrowne (talk) 22:12, 1 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
Yeah ... it's like IMdB. How much of that content is user-inputted? Daniel Case (talk) 22:13, 1 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
I understand but the IP changed her height with the Cagematch source. AmritR012 (talk) 04:19, 2 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
That wouldn't make the birthplace equally reliable. Daniel Case (talk) 04:39, 2 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
Other thing to make Paramus implausible: until the opening of the new main campus of The Valley Hospital this year (the previous main campus is in adjacent Ridgewood, though most major functions have moved to Paramus) there was no hospital in Paramus that had a maternity ward. The only hospital was what's now called New Bridge Medical Center, which is an acute long-term care hospital (ie, a hospital for those with significant physical or mental disabilities that require continuous hospitalization). On the other hand, Morristown Medical Center is a place where lots of babies are born, even those whose parents live a couple of counties away. All depends on which hospital the mother's OB-GYN is affiliated with. (Disclosure. I was born in The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, and have friends who had their children in Morristown despite living two counties away.) None of this is unusual. It's quite plausible that Liv was born in Morristown despite her family residing in Elmwood Park while she was growing up. oknazevad (talk) 00:51, 11 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
