Talk:Gifted (TV series)

Gifted edit

The title "Gifted" is the working title of the show (https://www.bleedingcool.com/2017/03/11/joseph-morgan-not-part-new-x-men-tv-show-gifted/), so that's what it's currently called, if they change the title, this article title should be changed, until then, let's report the facts, and the fact is the title of the thing at the moment is "Gifted". Working titles should not be used for article titles. Also, Adamstom.97 has already created this article in their user space at User:Adamstom.97/sandbox/5. Since it is the earlier and more superior content on this topic, that should be move to the mainspace when it is appropriate at the appropriate title. I will wait for Adam to hopefully comment to discuss how they would like their user draft to be moved. WP:NORUSH on this. We can wait until more concrete info is obtained for the official title. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 01:37, 12 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
You have stated that "Working titles should not be used for article titles." with no justification or explanation, and there is certainly no wikipedia guideline on it. It is also, most importantly, utterly untrue, I am personally aware of several wikipedia articles that have used the working titles until they were changed, including "300: Battle of Artemisia" to "300: Rise of an Empire" (or have a look at this: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Jurassic_World&oldid=545493982). I am bewildered as to why you are making this false claim. Damiantgordon (talk) 01:58, 12 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
Well first we should clarify if it is "working" meaning temporary or "working" meaning the name given to designate production to avoid unwanted attention (ie Captain America: The Winter Soldier have the working title of Freezer Burn). If it is the former, then yes it would be correct, but I read its meaning as the latter example I gave. If I am wrong then I do apologize. However, Adamstom's draft is still the older, established and superior piece of content for the show. So that should be moved to this article location over the edits you performed. If there is info lacking in Adam's draft currently, then you can add to his draft (he is generally accepting of other users doing so in the interest of making it better). But until they comment, we should hold off on getting it in the mainspace until they state on how they would like to move it, since it is in their user space and not the Draft namespace. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 02:14, 12 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
I think it is clear which basis the term "working title" is being used in this case from the fact that Lauren Shuler Donner tweeted "Cast reading of 'Gifted' #Gifted" (https://twitter.com/ShuDonner/status/840351835395301377). It would be a phenomenally unusual way of avoiding attracting unwanted attention by sending this tweet. Damiantgordon (talk) 02:31, 12 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
Hey guys, just saw this. When we feel it is time to create an article for the pilot/series, I think it would be best to just copy what I have from my sandbox to the appropriate destination, and just note that we did that somewhere, rather than trying to move the article and take all my sandbox history. As for the title Gifted, I am unsure. As you can see at my draft, I have already added a different reported working title for the series. It is not from the most reliable source, but the filming location also came from thm and is now being confirmed by the cast's social media, so perhaps this is a working title in the sense of "a title being used until they figure out something else". If it is that case, then that is what we should refer to the show as for now. - adamstom97 (talk) 06:01, 12 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
Agree with you completely, adamstom97; and as Favre1fan93 said, defintely WP:NORUSH on this. Damiantgordon (talk) 12:30, 12 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
Damiant, I do think now my initial thought on seeing "working title" was incorrect. Just what I normally deal with, when I see that, I know it is just a production term, not a "temporary term" for a series or film. So my apologies. I'm going to add a hidden note on the redirect to indicate Adam's draft so anyone can add content there as it comes out. I will state that per WP:TVSERIES, as a general rule of thumb, articles are created for pilots once they have been picked up. And if it doesn't, this will probably be notable enough to exist at Gifted (TV pilot). - Favre1fan93 (talk) 15:36, 12 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
Great, Favre1fan93, thanks for this, that's super, good on you. I do hope this does get picked up as a series, I love Amy Acker and Stephen Moyer, and if it's anything like the level of quality of "Legion", it'll be worth a look. Damiantgordon (talk) 16:21, 12 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
