Gianna is italian for Juana is what I have heard.

Gianna is also a Greek name, namely another form of Ioanna. It is the female version of Giannis, which is respectively another form of Ioannis. And rather, both Gianna and Giannis are the most usual forms among Greeks, while Ioanna and Ioannis are used mostly in a formal way.
