Orphaned references in Georgia State Route 17 edit

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Georgia State Route 17's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 13:08, 25 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

Verification of extension failed edit

The article claims that on February 17, 2020, various changes were made to the state routes in and around Savannah, specifically that SR 17 was extended over the Jimmy Deloach Parkway, SR 204 was decommissioned. The SR 204 article claims that sections of roadway were demolished. The source for much of this is a news article published online on May 28, 2019 and updated on June 3, 2019. This fails verification for a number of reasons:

  • An article from 2019 cannot verify changes in 2020.
  • Even if the 2019 article announced the February 17, 2020, changeover date, intervening events not knowable at the time of publication could alter that timeline.
  • The article mentions that the proposal was "tabled". In American parliamentary procedure, "to table" is a motion to set a proposal aside and not approve it. So either the government body didn't approve it, or the report is using inaccurate terminology to describe what the body did.

That leaves us looking for better sources to see if changes were made. Google Maps does not show any extension of SR 17 and still shows SR 204 in place. Ok, so Google isn't always accurate, but they usually get changes like this done within a year. GDOT's 2021–2022 map also shows the highways around Skidaway Island and Savannah as unchanged, so Google in this case is accurate. Imzadi 1979  18:58, 7 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Imzadi1979: thank you for reverting the ridiculous changes that that IP editor has been making. I have heard that SR 204 was truncated to the SR 21 intersection (where they both end) and that SR 204 Spur was truncated as well. However, I have not heard anything about SR 17 being re-routed to Skidaway Island. As far as I know, after Jimmy DeLoach Parkway is extended to I-16 (at SR 17's current southern terminus), SR 17 is supposed to be routed along the parkway's extension. The IP is also claiming that SR 17 will be routed along the parkway (and its eastern companion, Jimmy DeLoach Connector, SR 21 Alternate). Junction Gap edit

The entire concurrency of HWY-1 shall be a junction gap with text saying: see U.S. Route 1 in Georgia#Major intersections|US 1 (mile 176.150-191.467) 108.88.82.1 (talk) 21:49, 13 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

That is the lazy way out and a deprecated practice. We should not be sending readers to other articles to see the junctions along a concurrency. Where this practice is in use in other articles, it should be changed to include the missing intermediate junctions along a concurrency. Imzadi 1979  22:47, 13 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

No Link For Bloomingdale’s Connecter edit

Can some make a re-direct link of SR 17 conn. in Bloomingdale, I can’t do it myself because wiki won’t let me, so can someone else do it? 2600:1005:B043:8790:4D0E:194A:90C1:F589 (talk) 17:28, 7 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

Proposed merge of Jimmy DeLoach Parkway into Georgia State Route 17 edit

The parkway is a subset of the state route. As such, its route description is redundant to part of the state route, it's history is a subset of the state route's history, and the junction list would also be redundant. Imzadi 1979  15:13, 21 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

What about the Bloomingdale connector route redirect link? 2600:1005:B012:3A54:48C6:8926:3DE0:3734 (talk) 19:43, 25 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
Closing, no merge given the uncontested objection and no support. Klbrain (talk) 21:02, 15 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
