The Freebox is a rather erratic ADSL modem that the French internet service provider named Free provides to its ADSL subscribers.

Its main use is as a modem, but it also (in theory)

Hi, this needs to be updated, the new two-box Freebox has been around for several months now... oh, and my experience is that it is not erratic at all, but then I am in central Paris.

Quality of wifi?

edit

I'm currently visiting france and have stayed in two apartments with v.5 boxes. In both cases it seems the wifi router can only cope with one device at a time. Any info available on issues with DHCP server? I don't see any mention of this problem on the french version of the page either, but since I see it on two different v.5 boxes I feel like it may be due to the hardware... comments anyone? 88.176.26.42 (talk) 09:23, 27 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

By default the Freebox v5 was in bridging mode, effectively only allowing one internal host at a time, and exposing it on Internet with a public address.. (good luck with that) On the Freebox v6, NAT is the default mode and yours hosts are assigned private addresses. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A01:E35:2433:9330:D4E6:E02:73E7:4BE3 (talk) 07:09, 4 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
