It would be good to see how the characteristic polynomial appears as a special case of the fredholm determinant. How? Ninte 11:19, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

I find the section entitled "Fredholm determinants of commutators" to be indecipherable by my small mind. Many terms are not well defined or motivated and the lack of parenthesis in formulas is very confusing. CHF (talk) 07:02, 16 March 2010 (UTC)

Changed the lower case lambdas to upper case ones wherever they denote an exterior power, as is standard notation, see exterior algebra.
