I suggest nominating this article for deletion again if it is not revamped. The use of the sources are astoundingly POV. The second source is a news article which cites posts made by Jack Thompson on a chat-forum, where the article itself mentions that they can't verify if the poster is actually Thompson, and some posters on the chat-forum express doubts as to the identity of the poster. The third and fourth sources are links to chat-forums where people discuss emails that they supposedly received from Jack. I don't think that counts as "verifiable". Any thoughts? Well, yeah, 'cuz you know. Everyone has an office large enough that they can handle massive floral arrangements being delivered. Anyone put any thought into the fact that such a "stunt" could easily be seen as a prank? Anonymous September 6 2006 (UTC)

The letter that came with the flowers includes an apology for pranks that had been played on Thompson (including vandalism). Working in a small office, I can imagine the inconvenience that massive floral arrangements can cause, particularly with people who have allergies. The more important thing to reconcile here in the Wiki pages - the Jack Thompson article says that Jack redirected the flowers to his industry opponents, while this article claims that he said he would but ultimately never did. Is there a way to make the articles consistent? Anonymous September 28 2006 (UTC)

Cleanup

I have cleaned up the article. I would like to encourage discussion from those who disagree with these changes rather than a series of edit and reverts.

I have made the following deletions for the following reasons: Anonymous October 13 2006 (UTC)

'Finding out about the project from Joystiq before it was complete, Thompson responded that once said flowers were received, he "will pack them up and send them to Judge James M. Moore, Fayette County Courthouse, Fayette, Alabama", the same judge who kicked him off the Strickland v. Sony case and revoked his Pro Hac Vice status in Alabama. Thompson "[wanted] Judge Moore to know that the flowers are an 'in memoriam' tribute to the three good men cut down because Paul Eibeler, CEO of Take-Two/Rockstar is a sociopathic criminal who knowingly markets adult, cop-killing murder simulators to kids." '

This information comes from a biased news source that gets the quotes off of a chat forum. The news source itself admits that it cannot verify the identity of the poster claiming to be Thompson, and a few of the posters on the chat forum express doubts that it is really Thompson. ' On February 7, 2006 Thompson announced that he had received the flowers, and is "about to do something with them". He then claimed to have sent them on to Paul Eibeler (Take Two's CEO), and David Girard-diCarlo & Jim Smith of Blank Rome, "in the memory of all of the people who now lie in the ground because of your reckless design, marketing, and sale of mature-rated murder simulators to children, facilitated by lawyers who know no shame." Electronic Gaming Monthly confirmed with Blank Rome in their August 2006 issue that they did not receive any of the flowers.

' Thompson called the flowers "harassment". He has also incorrectly blamed Joystiq and Take Two Interactive for sending the flowers to him, neither of which were involved. He did not acknowledge any receipt or knowledge of the letter at that time. During the week and a half leading up to the delivery he had left multiple harassing comments on the original Joystiq article.

' Thompson later clarified why he blamed Joystiq, since "The reportage of the flowers stunt involved Joystiq in the stunt." He also blamed Take Two because FFJ allegedly "follows Take-Two’s and Blank Rome's lead in characterizing me in the media and in an Alabama courthouse as, variously, a bisexual pedophile, 'mentally ill,' 'paranoid,' and so forth." '

This also comes from the source that takes its information from a chat forum. It is being removed on the grounds that the chat forum cannot verify that the poster was Thompson. Anonymous October 13 2006 (UTC)

This is an interpretation of the article. The Miami New Times did not "accuse" Thompson of anything, and presented both sides as wishing to take a moral high-ground. I will replace this with the quote Thompson gave, which I believe is more appropriate for this section. Anonymous October 13 2006 (UTC)

That has been noted in the article. If you feel more should be added about the project, feel free to - AS LONG as it is verifiable by a credible source. Well...

There is one thing I strongly disagree with.

Jack's comment on the flowers.

It has been reported by various news-sources, and is in an open letter, that he didn't say that "They can send me all the flowers they want. I'll send them along to the families of the slain policemen." This was *before* the sending of the letter and flowers.

But what he said when he recieved them was this: "Do whatever you like with the flowers. Discard them along with the decency you discarded long ago. I really don't care. Grind them up and smoke them if you like."

His stance was that the flowers were sent by collaborators involved with Take Two Entertainment, and that they were sent to harass him.

Now, it may be a forum post, however there is information in his letter pertainng to personal information, and it has been verified to be him by himself, and other sources.

I suggest the posting of the full letter, with editation made to personal information, so as to protect his privacy, and also to allow others to see the entirety of his response without having to go too far looking for it.
