Dubious claims of central symbols origins

I have yet to come across any evidence that the central symbol in the Wichita city flag is indeed a Zia symbol, or a symbol used by ANY group of indigenous peoples ever. The closest well-documented symbol is that of the Zia sun symbol (https://www.ziapueblo.org/) which is distinctive from the symbol in the Wichita flag, though there are claims that the symbol in the Wichita flag is inspired by / derived from the Zia sun symbol (https://www.krqe.com/news/albuquerque-metro/stolen-symbol-wichita-uses-zia-look-alike-on-city-flag/).

Summary: Albuquerque claims the symbol on the Wichita flag looks like the symbol they stole from the Zia people for their Albuquerque flag. Sounds similar to the old Apple complaint about Windows though Apple stole the concepts from Xerox Parc. LOL. • Sbmeirow • Talk • 13:04, 16 March 2024 (UTC)
