Origin of Concept?

It states in the article lead that the South Koreans were the inspiration for the FB concept and links to a specific article. However, that battle took place in 1967, well after US forces started using FBs (or FSBs, which was a later term). I've never seen mention of the South Korean influence, and was wondering if anyone could provide a source before I rewrite the lead?Intothatdarkness (talk) 21:20, 12 August 2010 (UTC)

The Battle of Tra Bihn Dong is probably one of the most famous battle involving the use of firebase. Firebase was developed years prior (around 1965) to that battle. For example, in 9-10 August 1966, Korean troops engaged NVA troops using the firebase at the Battle of Duc Co, then the U.S. examine the use of these type of bases afterward. The only problem with that is that FSBs were being used by US forces prior to that date. Do you have a source for the statement that the US didn't like the concept prior to Duc Co?Intothatdarkness (talk) 19:55, 4 April 2012 (UTC)

Your linked source doesn't deal with the fact that US units were using FSBs prior to the August battle. Not taking away from Korean troops, but it will require more than this to support the claim that FSBs were invented by Korean units.Intothatdarkness (talk) 20:34, 4 April 2012 (UTC)

Could they be for that even they're only from Korea?

Article about battle of Duc Co - in this article, US 3th Brigadier General ordered 'Search and Destroy', but Company Commander of ROK followed General Chae's CSB.

Concept of the CSB is a circular base of a company(too long to describe with my English, so concept is too simplified). In each company base, foxholes are linked special way and covered by mortars in the center of the base(high ground), 105mm artillery cannons in the HQ, and air supports.
