Low surface brightness galaxy says :- It is estimated that 90% of all galaxies are LSB galaxies, not high-surface-brightness types. Currently around 3000 are catalogued (as of 2005). LSBs are mainly isolated field galaxies, found in regions devoid of other galaxies. In their past, they had fewer tidal interactions or mergers with other galaxies, which could have triggered enhanced star formation. This is an explanation for the small stellar content. Most galaxies edit

According to [1] 80% of nearby galaxies exist in groups and clusters, whereas the current text says that most galaxies are field galaxies. This is seemingly contradictory. 70.29.212.131 (talk) 06:22, 18 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

It should be noted that a previous version of the article stated that few galaxies were field galaxies (5%). 70.29.212.131 (talk) 06:23, 18 June 2010 (UTC)Reply
