Disambiguation edit

I think this page should stay as a disambiguation page, even though only mathematical pages link to it. If I'm looking for "field" while thinking of physics, I should not be redirected to the mathematical version and then having to figure out that I should type "(physics)" in the URL. - Hankwang 10:27, 16 Feb 2004 (UTC)

Math fields? edit

This makes it look like a scalar field, vector field, and tensor field are examples of "fields" in the sense of objects with multiplication and addition operations defined. That isn't true, right? That's just a terminology concidence, I thought. I thought a field in the sense of a mapping of points in space to something was unrelated to the other meaning. Is there a multiplication operation defined for a vector field? 146.6.200.61 (talk) 20:04, 16 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Science and mathematics edit

I suggest that "Science and mathematics" should be split into three : "Mathematics", "Science" (in that order), and residuals to be put elsewhere. 94.30.84.71 (talk) 16:16, 28 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

Warfare edit

I think the "Warfare" use of "Field", as in "Field Marshal", "Field Promotion", an Army in the Field, etc., deserves an entry or section of entries, but I don't know where its link(s) should point to. 94.30.84.71 (talk) 16:19, 28 February 2016 (UTC)Reply
