Fig wasps in NZ
editCan someone chase up the RSNZ article on the naturalisation of the fig in NZ in the references. The link appears to be broken. 220.233.9.227 (talk) 10:17, 18 May 2014 (UTC)

editJust the most important info is missing
edit- What soil do they need?
- How much water do they need?
- Root structure/depth?
- How fast do they grow?
We can only put in what we can source - they can pretty much grow in any soil, grow very quickly and their highly aggressive roots invade drains etc. so are not recommended for home gardens. Cas Liber (talk · contribs) 21:13, 23 January 2021 (UTC)
- Wikipedia is not a gardening tips site. Gardening tips are a great topic for a web site, but this is not one of them. IAmNitpicking (talk) 03:04, 24 January 2021 (UTC)
- Well, yes and now - while wikipedia is not a how-to guide, we can still describe in general terms whether a plant is easy or difficult to grow and where and under what conditiions it might do so (depending on references) in a neutral way. Cas Liber (talk · contribs) 13:06, 24 January 2021 (UTC)
- Certainly. IAmNitpicking (talk) 22:32, 24 January 2021 (UTC)
- Given that:
- Botanists either already know this or will look up the original soure
- University students are forbidden using Wikipedia
- what other use is there of this type of articles than some reasonable gardening advise? 115.70.29.185 (talk) 05:18, 6 July 2023 (UTC)
- 1)Your assumptions are faulty.
- 2)There are people other than university students and botanists in the world. IAmNitpicking (talk) 01:49, 7 July 2023 (UTC)

Fig Distribution
editthe distribution on the page is shown to be exclusively along the east coat, but there is a well known Moreton Bay Fig in Geraldton, in the midwest of Western Australia.
I am not sure if this is relevant at all, might just be the only fig there planted intentionally, I haven't looked into it. Loomhigh (talk) 04:18, 28 March 2024 (UTC)
