FSS -- FIELD SECURITY SECTION -- as its name implies was a unit in various locations carrying out the work of the INTELLIGENCE CORPS -- originally formed within the MILITARY POLICE ( and for a short time wearing green cap bands as opposed to the white bands of the MPs (snowdrops)), it had the connotation of MILITARY SECURITY POLICE - an identity rightly disliked by both politicians and military . The units were gradually phased out in the 60's -- many military disliked their semi-independance -- and personnel placed within the normal chains of command ie. Int Units . A remaining legacy was to be found in the BSSO in BAOR
