Where is the source that the 2023 Olympic qualifiers in Tokyo are counted as "World Cup"? You literally guessed that and created fictional tables by yourself, FIVB never used "World Cup" in any of the news, and no one received a trophy or any medals for the top 3 finish. The tournament format has changed, spreading out over 3 pools and not everyone playing for the Cup. The event title is called FIVB Road To Paris Volleyball Qualifier but also still is world cup 2023, seeing https://tixplus.jp/feature/wcv2023_en/, https://www.fivb.com/japan-unveiled-as-first-hosts-of-olympic-qualification-tournaments/?id=100249, the champion USA received the trophy from FIVB, seeing https://www.instagram.com/p/CyJNE4KxoMe/?img_index=1.Stevencocoboy (talk) 06:28, 18 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
Then explain why is it called "World Cup" only in Japanese sources, and why is it not listed under competitions at FIVB website? The competition is not official, it was branded "world cup" only in Japan for marketing and sponsorsing purposes, while the FIVB treats the competition only as "Olympic Qualification Tournament", and you won't find a FIVB source claiming that the US won the World Cup. It seems that we have some arguments. I've already have a discussion in Wikipedia:HD. DO NOT remove the result summary until the discussion is ended. Thanks.Stevencocoboy (talk) 03:03, 19 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
Unsourced, unofficial content can and will be removed. Again, FIVB website doesn't recognise 2023 Olympic Qualifier as "2023 World Cup", there is nothing more to say as it cannot get more official than that. The official international title of the competition was "FIVB Road to Paris Volleyball Qualifier", while the competition was also informally called "World Cup" ONLY in Japan because of sponsorship / marketing reasons. Now post a news article where the FIVB recognise US as the World Cup winner - you won't find it, since there were no "2023 FIVB Volleyball Men's World Cup" competition. So if the Instagram picture of the US head coach (not a WP:RS) is everything you got, then the content will be removed. Wait, I can actually find a source for you – Official FIVB match report...as you can see, "World Cup" is not even mentioned once in the article, it even says "The Americans topped final Pool B standings undefeated", and not something like "The Americans clinched World Cup", so thats an official information Snowflake91 (talk) 09:55, 19 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
Oh, and I almost forgot, regarding that picture of the trophy you posted – the wording on the trophy literally reads "FIVB Road to Paris – Volleyball Qualifer Winner", World Cup is not mentioned there either, its the same logo and wording as you can see in the official competition regulations (on page 3), where, surprisingly, "World Cup" is also not mentioned neither once, so case closed. @Snowflake91: Okay, it seems that someone make a mistakes, both men and women are wrong. I will revise but will be add back the title in 2023 FIVB Volleyball Men's Olympic Qualification Tournaments after changes because U.S won the trophy from FIVB. And I have a question, did 2019 World Cup is the last time to held? Thanks. Stevencocoboy (talk) 05:10, 20 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Snowflake91: I change the title from Men's World Cup to Men's Japan World Cup which the title only call it in Japan. Do you think it's okay? Thanks.Stevencocoboy (talk) 05:38, 20 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Why Japan?

edit

Seriously, why? Are there any sources discussing why the tournament is permanently in one place and why Japan specifically? Lockesdonkey (talk) 03:06, 9 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
