Is[n't] it worth mentioning that on the way to the well in 2007, Desmond saw the child that is only visible to candidates? He is the same who told the Man in Black he could not kill Sawyer during the episode featuring Locke's flash-sideways.

Jack & Locke meet again

Hurley has never been in a mental institution before?

I thought that past events (pre Oceanic 815 events) were the same for both the 2007 timeline and the 2004 flash-sideways timeline. But Hurley tells Libby, "I've never been in a mental institution before" (or words to that effect). Was he lying? Does he not remember the events from Dave where he knew Dr. Brooks? Was this a goof?
