Infoboxes

So, do you want infoboxes for the individual games? I'll do them, np. Useful info found @ Mobygames.. Jacoplane 20:33, 26 July 2005 (UTC)

Sure :) --Naha|(talk) 03:17, July 30, 2005 (UTC)

Hot shots fore release date

The article has a release date different than the one found in the infobox. I got the release date from the ign site. What is your source? Jacoplane 20:31, 28 July 2005 (UTC)

Odd. Generally I get my information from Moby Games and IGN, for the infoboxes. I'm thinking I accidently typed in the wrong thing, because the date on IGN is found on a couple other sites, but I can't access Moby right now. I'll go ahead and change it to 08/17/2004 --Naha|(talk) 03:17, July 30, 2005 (UTC)

Hot Shots Golf: Coca Cola Special Edition

I'm curious, is this actually a stand alone game or is it a part of hot shots golf open tee? (because I was thinking of splitting off the open tee section to a new article and was wondering whether this should go with it). Also, any ideas about the proper release date for HSG fore as I asked above? Jacoplane 20:08, 29 July 2005 (UTC)

Not sure about Coca Cola yet. Need to find more info, I'll look into it. As far as the infoboxes on the series page ...I'm trying to decide whether or not that will make it look too cluttered. I'm thinking infoboxes are best kept on the page for the individual games, and not the series ..but some series articles have them, and others don't =/ Still undecided. --Naha|(talk) 03:17, July 30, 2005 (UTC)
i've played it, its just the psp version with A LOT of branding --gon 12:41, February 27, 2007 (UTC)

Why Hot Shots?

If this game was released first in Japan, (ie it is not a US title) is called Everybody's Golf everywhere else but north America, then why is this page titled Hot Shots, and not Everybody's golf, which would appear to be the release title, and the title for most of the world? 86.9.144.122 15:40, 19 April 2007 (UTC)

I agree. I'll try changing it, and if it gets changed back, we'll start a fair debate. Choogle 12:58, 15 May 2007 (UTC)

There, done. Well, I really finished yesterday, but I just went over it once more to check for mistakes. No change-back yet! :) Choogle 07:34, 16 May 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Hot Shots Golf Fore (Game Box Cover).jpg

Image:Hot Shots Golf Fore (Game Box Cover).jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 04:01, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

Hot Shots Golf 3

The article seems contradictory on where this game was released. The intro says "Hot Shots Golf 3 (only released in North America)" but the body says that an alternate title is "Minna no Golf 3", which suggests a Japanese release. Assuming this is right, does the intro want to say something like "not released in Europe" instead? Jsutherland 14:04, 4 August 2007 (UTC)

Need to add Everybody's Gold Portable 2

release dates

It would be great if you guys could check out the release dates given for the newer versions, I am looking everywhere to buy the PSP versions (other than the original) and as far as I can tell there are none released yet.

thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.190.92.129 (talk) 13:21, 31 March 2008 (UTC)

Why is it called Everybody's golf?

The name of this page was changed from "Hot Shots Golf" to "Everybody's golf" because supposedly that was the original name in Japan. However as far as I can tell the original name in Japan is not in English. The original name is written in Japanese. I assume the Japanese name could translate into "Everybody's Golf", but I don't think that matters. It seems to me that the English wikipedia page should use the English name that the game was sold under. All the pictures in the article show the title as either "[Japanese writing] Golf" or "Hot Shots Golf". Any Japanese to English translation of the original name is original research and has no place here. The Goat (talk) 19:24, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

It's not original research. Have a look at the Japanese cover of Everybody's Golf 5. - X201 (talk) 21:49, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
Are you looking at another picture? The cover of that game shows the name in Japanese not English. It also says "everybody's golf" on the cover but that is clearly not the title. The Goat (talk) 14:44, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
I agree with changing the page title to Hot Shots Golf, because this is the ENGLISH Wiki page and I think thats its safe to say that the majority of people who will read the page live in the United States and know the game has Hot Shots. Hurleyman (talk) 16:10, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
English is an official language of practically all Commonwealth of Nations countries, which have a total population of almost 2 billion. China has the second largest number of English-speakers after India. The game's original name is Everybody's Golf, the name was only changed for the North American market, and it is known the World over as Everybody's Golf. Hot Shots Golf redirects to this article so people have no trouble finding the article and when North American users arrive they learn that the game's original name is Everybody's Golf and that the game was renamed for the region. - X201 (talk) 17:41, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

Renaming to Hot Shots Golf

Well I've seen the previous "discussion" on the change to Everybody's golf but I believe that the page should be called Hot Shots Golf. Though the original title is Everybody's golf however if you notice most other articles on Wikipedia use the North American titles of games. Examples include The World Ends With You, Resonance of Fate, Monster Rancher, Revelations: Persona, the Persona series and various others. Thus I believe that this page should use the North American name for the series.KiasuKiasiMan (talk) 15:09, 25 November 2009 (UTC)

Oppose The original name is Everybody's Golf, the developers refer to it as Everybody's Golf, other countries use the English language title without even translating it. The name change was for the North American market and just because other articles use North American titles doesn't mean that every article in Wikipedia has to follow suit. The rest of the World knows the series as Everybody's Golf. Redirects point users to the correct article, no one is missing out because the article title is not the North American title. - X201 (talk) 15:54, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
Also notice that KiasuKiasiMan's logic doesn't really work because all those games were still called by those names for their non-US/Japan releases, or were never released outside of the US/Japan to begin with. 174.111.82.239 (talk) 10:05, 17 May 2010 (UTC)

Everybody's Golf (series)Everybody's Golf — Since the Everybody's Golf page is unoccupied, the series page should be moved there. Many other series pages occupy the same page name without the "(series)" at the end for example Final Fantasy and Monster RancherKiasuKiasiMan (talk) 07:57, 21 February 2010 (UTC)
