We reached agreement at Wikipedia:Templates for discussion/Log/2015 April 27#Template:Species abbreviation that the species abbreviation template is not helpful for various reasons and should be deleted. So, I've been removing them as I've detailed at User:Oiyarbepsy/Species abbrevation. None of these are valid entries, every single one is a partial title match, which does not belong on disambiguation pages. The search results are much more useful than these species entries that obscure the genus name and don't describe the organism. Oiyarbepsy (talk) 18:03, 29 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

I don't really care about the template, but I think that given results like this, which is basically useless if you are looking for a species with "equi" in its name, having a link to the articles is appropriate. Montanabw ^(talk) 20:53, 1 December 2015 (UTC)Reply
