In the section Emoji#Joining, please add content about the gender-neutral and non-binary gender joining sequences added recently:

Emoji 12.1 and 13.0 added support for various gender inclusive joining sequences, such as 🧑 (U+1F9D1 PERSON) and 🎄 (U+1F384 CHRISTMAS TREE) for 🧑‍🎄 Mx Claus (a non-binary or gender-neutral version of Santa Claus) and 👰 (U+1F470 BRIDE WITH VEIL) plus ♂ (U+2642 MALE SYMBOL) for 👰‍♂️ (a man or male-presenting person wearing a wedding veil).

My impression after my first read was that the info would be awkwardly shoe-horned into the article purely to support the RfD, but a re-read makes me pause a bit. I don't think I'm explicitly opposed to it, but I'd like to hear a second-opinion. -- Tavix ^(talk) 05:05, 17 November 2020 (UTC)

Are all new gender inclusive created through joining? If not, I think the "Modern-day emojis (2010–present)" section is a better place to showcase that gender inclusive emojis were added. ◢  Ganbaruby!  (Say hi!) 14:18, 14 December 2020 (UTC)

Proposal to use SVG file instead of Unicode

I am not sure what you are proposing.

Are you talking about in this article specifically, or on the web as a whole?

Assuming the former, a {{emoji}} template does exist for including an emoji from a given libre emoji font as SVG, although it bears the notice "This template is for using emoji on discussion and user pages. Don’t use it on encyclopedic articles!"—which would preclude use in this article unless it is clarified what the position is on its use in articles actually about emoji, such as this one or Pile of Poo.

As for glyph variation between emoji fonts installed on different devices: in general, the discussion in this article in paragraphs where individual emoji are quoted is referencing those individual emoji or pictographs in abstract terms, rather than specific different glyphs for them; the discussion about the handgun, where differences between glyphs is a notable topic, already shows several glyph examples in image asides.

I would like to request the following edits.

• In the sentences 'On September 12, 2017, Apple announced that the Messages app on the iPhones with Face ID would get "animoji", which are versions of standard emoji that are custom-animated with the use of facial motion capture to reflect the sender's expressions. These animoji can also utilize lip sync to appear to speak audio messages recorded by the sender.', change 'animoji' to 'Animoji'. So, the sentences would then become: 'On September 12, 2017, Apple announced that the Messages app on the iPhones with Face ID would get "Animoji", which are versions of standard emoji that are custom-animated with the use of facial motion capture to reflect the sender's expressions. These Animoji can also utilize lip sync to appear to speak audio messages recorded by the sender.'.
• In the sentence 'With the release of iOS 13, Apple introduced "memoji" that allows the use of an avatar that a user can use to personalize messages; this feature does not require Face ID.', change 'memoji' to 'Memoji'. So, the sentence would then become: 'With the release of iOS 13, Apple introduced "Memoji" that allows the use of an avatar that a user can use to personalize messages; this feature does not require Face ID.'.

The reason why I am requesting these edits is because the words 'Animoji' and 'Memoji' seem to have been invented by Apple and they write these words with a capital first letter.
