Merge
editThis page contains absolutely no unique text. The term is a neologism derived from "e-book" and the like, with no outstanding notability. Chris Cunningham (talk) 03:22, 20 January 2008 (UTC)
- Oppose: The scope of e-books "the digital media equivalent of a conventional printed book" is too narrow to encompass every use of electronic pages. Here's several cases where electronic pages are referred to outside the context of e-books as described in the e-book article:
- Digital Graphic Design by Ken Pender The glossary refers to electronic pages in the context of desktop publishing which can include anything printed as well as electronic, from single page flyers to package design. In DTP, the electronic page may be in a data file for page layout program such as InDesign or QuarkXpress.
- Books are contained. Electronic pages online are not necessarily contained or even in book form. e-media: How to Use Electronic Media for Effective Marketing Communications by Jeremy Swinfen Green. In their glossary of digital media terms: "Traditionally websites are referred to as collections of electronic 'pages'." The Business Case for e-Business by Keith Rutledge page 75 is another. Designing and Writing Online Documentation: Hypermedia for Self- Supporting Products by William Horton page 274 is another. In Journalism and New Media by John V. Pavlik page 15, electronic pages are mentioned in the context of hyperlinks connecting one news article to another, obviously on the web and not necessarily in book form. Document Security: Protecting Physical and Electronic Content by Ronald L. Mendellpg page 89 is simply talking about an electronic page in the context of a data file. - Oppose: Electronic page is an idea describing a presentation format, E-book is an mechanical object. The similiarities are there but such is technology that overlap is unavoidable. The difference between an idea and a machine are clear. Keep "electronic page" and "E-Book" as separate entries. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 143.127.131.4 (talk) 14:20, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
- Oppose: Many stubs start out a excerpts from larger more involved pages. Lack of original subject, not necessarily original content is the grounds for merger. As I see it the merger with Ebook would be useless, and even counterproductive. I speak not on the merits of the page itself- which I might consider frivolous technical hairsplitting to be deleted- but on the merger. Mmmpotatoes (talk) 21:13, 26 February 2008 (UTC)
Unflagged for merger
editI have unflagged this page and Ebook for merger. Consensus appears in opposition, and the pages represent distinct ideas.Mmmpotatoes (talk) 21:13, 26 February 2008 (UTC)
