St Peter's & Grammar School edit

Not sure I am adding this to the right place? But St Peter's and Auckland Grammar are not in Eden Terrace. Their inclusion in this article might imply that Eden Terrace falls in the much sought-after 'Grammar Zone,' which it doesn't (almost, but not quite!). E.g., Auckland Grammar School Zone I am doing more research for Eden Terrace, and at some point would like to delete that information. Hope I will not be treading on a Wikipedian's toes by doing so?? Be bold, but be prepared to discuss your actions if anyone objects. It might help to discuss the boundaries of the suburb. There are no official boundaries, but the historical map and the census area help to establish the limits.-gadfium 20:48, 16 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Cheers, thanks for that. Next project, boundaries then... Saintchanel (talk) 03:58, 18 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Boundary map edit

I have uploaded a boundary map of Eden Terrace, I want it presented as a thumbnail, but it has a nasty '[[File:]|300px]' heading. I have fiddled away with the code, but can't make it go away. Can anyway help the poor, bereft computer-illiterate? Saintchanel (talk) 02:37, 9 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Fixed. Where did you get this map from? It says in the description that it comes from stats.govt.nz, but any images they have are copyrighted and cannot be used on Wikipedia. I see that there's a map of Eden Terrace boundaries at [1]; did you use the data from that and a free source of maps to create this?-gadfium 02:47, 9 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

wow, that was fast, thanks for fixing that! I uploaded the image from http://koordinates.com/#/layer/339-nz-area-units-2008-yearly-pattern/ interactive boundary map, attributing the info to Stats NZ (as directed), which has a Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 license (see bottom left of page). Have I stuffed up somewhere? Saintchanel (talk) 03:19, 9 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

No, that looks great. Can you add the link to koordinates to the image description at commons please.-gadfium 03:58, 9 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Cheers, have amended Commons Saintchanel (talk) 04:31, 9 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

The Eden Terrace boundary map has been deleted due to alleged "copyright violation," but the image has a Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 license. I tried to undo the deletion - but alas, to no avail. Anyone have some insight into this issue? Thanks. Saintchanel (talk) 04:20, 29 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Reason given for map deletion was "google maps screenshot cropped - the le in google is still visible at bottom left." I have edited the map to remove the "le" and reuploaded it. As the source has a CC 3 license, assuming this will suffice. Saintchanel (talk) 19:53, 31 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Boundary conflict edit

The prison, shot tower and Henderson & Pollard are all outside the areas in the two maps. Unless the maps are wrong, most of the content in this article should be removed. Nurg (talk) 06:30, 4 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Agreed! I have wanted to change that section for ages. Some buildings of interest that DO fall into the Eden Terrace zone (according to NZ Post) are currently on the Newton page. Perhaps I can steal them back... (Saintchanel (talk) 03:19, 14 April 2013 (UTC))Reply
