Notability

About the notability: by now the journal has 201 hits on Google Scholar when combined "Economic and Environmental Studies" and "Opole". Don't know it that improves the notability and if so, how to translate it to an useful addition to the article. Eddylandzaat (talk) 02:16, 17 September 2010 (UTC)

  • About a year ago they had only a few (<10) hits on Scholar. Or Scholar is indexing the journal now and the growth in hits is more less accidental or the journal has grown in importance...

• GS continually increases its coverage, so this could just be an artefact of that. Whatever the reason, the number of articles a journal publishes does not really have a direct bearing on its notability in the WP sense (for an essay on journal notability, see WP:Notability (academic journals)). In principle, a single article could make a journal notable (for example, if all a journal ever published was Einstein's special relativity paper, that would probably make the journal notable; I'm exaggerating a bit, but I hope you see my point). Notability is difficult to show for journals, because it is rather rare that somebody writes an article about a journal (more often it's about articles that appeared in that journal). As a substitute, we often accept evidence that a journal is included in major, selective databases. --Crusio (talk) 15:22, 17 September 2010 (UTC)
