Themes - Race edit

Shouldn't race be added to the list of themes. Kenneth's relationship with Ralph(?) his african-american lover and the whole Africa stay chapters are clear references to race relations. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sxjthefirst (talkcontribs) 16:40, 3 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Plot Summary edit

While the Plot Summary section certainly exemplifies the virtue of brevity (and I am loath to change this), it leaves out the most important source of the conflict that drives the novel. Would we consider amending the section to read: On his eighty-first birthday, retired gay writer Kenneth Toomey is asked by the Archbishop of Malta to assist in the process of canonisation of Carlo Campanati, who is the late Pope Gregory XVII and Kenneth's brother-in-law. Toomey subsequently works on his memoirs, which span the major part of the 20th century, and which reveal that Toomey, a lifelong faithful Catholic, feels ostracized by his Church. rowley (talk) 04:18, 20 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
